What you might hear:

While listening to the live scanner feed you will no doubt hear the fire apparatus making their normal trips to and from the shop, various stations, or driver's training. You may also hear some other units using this frequency. One such unit is "fire control". This is Chief O'Neill himself. You will most likely hear this unit on multiple alarm fires and on occasional box 5 responses. "900" Units (i.e. 917 and 918) are the arson investigation units. Inspection 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are the Bureau of Fire Prevention and Inspection members. They are most active weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST but you will hear them other times such as when a big event is going on. If you hear a unit designated "Traffic", those are the Youngstown Street Department's traffic units. The department occasionally sends them to replace traffic lights that are malfunctioning or where the light has burned out.
